Pentax has unveiled its new the Optio WG-2 and WG-2 GPS “lifeproof” cameras which have built on the success of the rugged Pentax WG-1. Each of these rugged “adverture-proof” compact digital cameras will be available in two different colors: red and white for the WG-2, and black and orange for the GPS version.
The Pentax Optio WG-2 features a back-illuminated CMOS image sensor with a 16 megapixel resolution, a HVGA 3-inch wide 460k LCD display with an anti-reflective coating, digital microscope mode and so on.
Both Optio WG-2 And WG-2 GPS are waterproof to a depth of up to 40-feet, shock-proof from 5-feet, cold-proof to the standard 10 degree C temperatures as well as crush proof under up to 220-pounds.
The Optio WG-2 GPS also comes equipped with GPS.
The Pentax WG-2 and WG-2 GPS will be available in march 2012 and will be priced at $350 and $400, respectively. The SportMount Chest Harness is also available as optional ($50).
